Any Veteran of the American Armed Forces that has served in an armed conflict overseas is able to apply! We do prioritize our veterans who have multiple deployments/severe injuries due to limited resources at this time but hope to accommodate anyone in need in the future. Fishing in the Dark reserves the right to deny fishing trips to any veteran. While our primary goal is to provide veterans with a day of bass fishing to show how having a hobby can improve their day-to-day struggles with PTSD, we serve the whole veteran and will refer out to partners and resources that could be useful to an individual. This is a pressure free situation where we will provide resource contact information to the veteran and leave the rest in their hands.
There are many ways you can help the veteran community. Please shoot us a message if you need help in the right direction and we will see how we can maximize our efforts!
At this time we do not have a system set in place for others outside of our charity to take veterans on fishing excursions. Due to our legal and insurance situations we are unable to allow outside fishermen to take veterans out under our flag. We will be looking to expand in the future. Please drop us a line and we will keep you in mind when the time comes for us to expand.
No! Veterans nationwide can apply to head out on the lake with Fishing in the Dark. Our only base of operations is in Central Texas at the moment. We will make accommodations for those who need to travel when possible.
